Amendment to the Library Rules 2018

The Library Rules constitute an important document, which stipulates the relationship between the library and the people using its services. The amendment to the Library Rules shall come into effect on 25 May 2018 and shall bring about certain changes we would like to familiarise you with.

Handling personal data

Personal data protection is a very important issue for the library, which we devote continuous attention to. This is why a separate part of the Library Rules, specifically Chapter 7, is devoted to this issue. The changes are based primarily on the requirements for the compliance of practice with the new European regulation on personal protection (GDPR, hereinafter the Regulation). Given the obligations arising from the Regulation, we are obliged to limit certain services on the English version of the library’s website, in particular access to the English version of the online reader account. We apologise for the inconvenience and trust that we shall be able to restore the service by launching a new version of our website.

All the data may be updated during a personal visit to the library; you shall need your identification (ID card or passport) to do so.

Seniors over 70 years of age for free

The library registration fee is charged during first registration and when renewing the reader’s card validity, and is equal to CZK 60 per year. An exception applies to children under 15 years of age and holders of ZTP and ZTP-P passes. Seniors over the age of 70 shall now be able to register / extend their registration to the library without a fee. Persons over the age of 75 can also use the book delivery service, offered by the library branches in Břevnov, Opatov and Smíchov.

Changes in the pricelist

The pricelist forms an annex to the Library Rules. The price for notification of reservation of sending of a reminder via physical mail is newly increased to CZK 25 (CZK 19 postage + CZK 6 overhead costs). Notification of reservation fulfilment via e-mail is free of charge. The price for reservation (identification, potential transport and preparation of the book for pickup) is CZK 10.
