26. 10. 2026
In November 2026, services at the Central Library will be temporarily restricted.
The restrictions are due to two major events taking place in the immediate vicinity of the library: the opening of an exhibition at Prague City Gallery (GHMP), attended by VIP guests, and the filming of the Netflix series The Secret of Secrets. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Tuesday, 3 November 2026 – Closing at 4:00 PM
The Central Library will close to the public at 4:00 PM. All services will be unavailable, including access to the IDIOM artwork. Loans and reservations due to expire will be extended.
Events scheduled to take place in the Central Library's halls will go ahead as planned:
We look forward to welcoming you back on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
Wednesday, 4 and Thursday, 5 November 2026 – Entrance via Valentinská Street only
The entire Mariánské náměstí square will be closed, including access to the Central Library through its main entrance.
Please use the entrance on Valentinská Street (beneath the sculpture by Vlado Milunić) to enter the building.
The Bistro, the Workshop and the IDIOM artwork will be inaccessible.
Thank you for your understanding.
The library will also be closed on Tuesday, 17 November 2026, due to a public holiday.
