The library is open for you even during the summer months. We will be lending books for the summer from June 10, 2025.
Key information about summer opening hours
- Summer opening hours are from July 1 to August 31, 2025. During the holidays, branches are closed on Saturdays and have shorter opening hours. The idiom is also only accessible during the week. Planning to visit the library during the holidays? Check the opening hours at www.mlp.cz/en/branches.
- You can find Oskar on the riverbank and at festivals. The Crossway bookmobile will not be running from June 30 to August 24, 2025.
- The “cash desks” in the lobby of the Central Library will be completely closed from July 1 to September 1, 2025. Tickets for autumn events can be purchased online at www.mlp.cz/akce during this period.
- Summer closure: the library will be closed from Monday, July 28 to Sunday, August 10, 2025. All branches will be closed. Self-service kiosks:/o-knihovne/sluzby/kiosky/ will be open throughout the summer, and the Velký mlýn branch:/pobocky/velky-mlyn/ will remain open during the closure. The idiom will not be accessible during the summer closure.
Velký mlýn: summer opening hours
The “Velký mlýn” branch:/pobocky/velky-mlyn will be closed at the beginning of summer from June 30 to July 13, 2025. During the summer closure, Velký mlýn will be open from July 28 to August 10, 2025. Velký mlýn also has special opening hours during the summer.

Books for the whole vacation
We are lending books for the holidays from June 10, 2025. Take advantage of the exceptionally extended loan periods and borrow plenty of reading material for the holidays. Books borrowed during this period can be returned in September.
Where to return books during the closure?
You can return books even when we are closed. During the holiday closure, you can use the return boxes at the Hloubětín, Jezerka, Lužiny, Opatov, Petřiny, or return them to the Central Library. Tip! Throughout the closure, the Kiosek CČM in the Černý Most Center, the DBK Kiosk in Budějovická, and the Velký Mlýn will remain open.
