Film „Women from Rote Island“ (Perempuan Berkelamin Darah) Jeremiase Nyangoena je silným příběhem o ženské odvaze a odolnosti. Martha se po dvou letech vrací z Malajsie, místo výdělku si ale veze těžké trauma ze znásilnění. Doma ji nečeká klid, ale další násilí a společenské odmítnutí, jež vrcholí tragédií zasahující celou rodinu. Film získal na Indonéském filmovém festivalu 2023 čtyři ocenění, včetně ceny za nejlepší film a nejlepší režii, a byl vybrán jako indonéský kandidát na Oscara 2025 v kategorii Nejlepší cizojazyčný film.

Women from Rote Island

Jeremias Nyangoena's film Women from Rote Island (Perempuan Berkelamin Darah) is a powerful story of female courage and resilience. Martha returns from Malaysia after two years, but instead of earnings, she brings back the heavy trauma of rape. At home, she finds not peace, but further violence and social rejection, culminating in a tragedy that affects the whole family. The film won four awards at the 2023 Indonesian Film Festival, including Best Film and Best Director, and was selected as Indonesia's candidate for the 2025 Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
