Z utajeného setkání s Edwardem Snowdenem v Moskvě se filmaři spolu s novináři přesouvají do Paříže, Mnichova, Tel Avivu, na Maltu… Během pátrání po vrazích maltské novinářky, s níž němečtí reportéři pracovali na kauze Panama Papers, se mimoděk dostávají k alarmujícím informacím o rakouském vicekancléři, které mohou mít obrovské následky pro celou rakouskou vládu. Slupku po slupce se tak odkrývá další přelomový případ. Dokument nabízí nejen pohled na těžkosti, kterým novináři při práci čelí, ale také na dilemata, s nimiž se potýkají, a otázky, které si sami kladou. Nezávislá žurnalistka má totiž nejen nezastupitelnou kontrolní úlohu, ale i velkou moc.

The filmmakers follow the journalists from a secret meeting with Edward Snowden in Moscow to Paris, Munich, Tel Aviv, Malta… During the search for the murderers of their Maltese colleague, with whom they worked on the Panama Papers case, the German reporters come across alarming information about the Austrian Vice-Chancellor – something that could have enormous consequences for the entire government of Austria. Another breakthrough case is thus revealed, layer by layer. This documentary offers a look at the difficulties journalists face in their work, as well as the dilemmas they encounter and the questions they ask themselves: they know that independent journalism not only plays a watchdog role, but it also has great power.
